Synopsis:
Cracked teeth have long been a diagnostic and treatment challenge for dentists. In the absence of clear etiologies for a patient’s signs and symptoms, we as dentists often attribute issues to the “CRACK.” However, several critical questions remain: Have we utilized all available methods to diagnose a cracked tooth? Have we thoroughly considered all of the patient’s signs and symptoms? Are our findings consistent or contradictory? Moreover, there is a degree of uncertainty regarding the prognosis of root canal treatment on a cracked tooth, yet patients bear the costs of the procedure and a required full cuspal coverage.
This seminar aims to address your questions on presenting cracked teeth to patients and making a professional decision that aligns with the patient’s preferences.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this seminar attendees will be able to:
- Confidently diagnose cracked teeth.
- Effectively discuss the prognosis of cracked teeth with patients.
- Make informed decisions on when to perform root canal treatment on cracked teeth or explore alternative treatments.
